The Henry Grant

for Special Education Advocacy

The Henry Grant for Special Education Advocacy’s mission is that students who are either currently in or were in foster care can thrive in school by receiving the educational accommodations needed and overcome the statistical outcomes of youth who have spent time in foster care.

The Henry Grant for Special Education Advocacy was birthed from the struggles of one family to navigate the intricacies of the education system to get their child help at school. After battling through foster care, adoption, the impact of early childhood trauma, diagnosis that impact learning and then finding yet another battle at school seemed simply too much.

As mentioned above, navigating the road of special education needs is challenging and the help of a professional special education advocate can be a tremendous resource.

To be elegible for the grant, the student must be enrolled in a Texas public school.

Grants for student special education advocacy, once approved, can only be paid to an approved special education advocate. We recommend reviewing professionals who are members of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA). If your chosen advocate is not a member of COPAA, The Henry Grant Board of Directors will review your chosen advocates professional history as a part of the approval process. Not using a professional advocate is basis for having your grant application declined. Maximum grant amount is $1,000.

Grant applications will be reviewed quarterly. Approved grants will be paid directly to the professional advocate only. Submitting a grant application does not guarantee the application will be approved or funded by Restoration Ministries, Henry Grant for Special Education Advocacy.
